Optic Nerve is a contemporary Australian rock band lead by siblings Amy and Mark Ranftl.
The combination of Mark’s song writing and guitar skills and Amy’s unique vocal range has been combined regularly with various young talented musicians who perform on bass and drums which gives Optic Nerve a unique identity in the Australian music scene.
Mark has completed a Bachelor of Music Degree, and has recently been invited to perform and be part of Steve Flacks Guitar Heroes tour as a guest performer, appearing on stage with Rose Tattoo and other well-known musicians.
Having completed NIDA’s Singing Acting and Dancing course, Amy’s unique vocal range and tone has lead to a variety of session work, and a European tour featuring in solo performances.
Optic Nerve has received airplay on a variety of Sydney radio stations, has won the 2dayFM Battle of the Unsigned Bands, and were finalists in:
“MusicOz Challenge” two years running
“Future Rock” at Sydney’s Hard Rock café’
Nova 96.9 FM’s Garage Days competition
And have won many local Battle of the Band competitions, as well as having performed at many of Sydney’s premier venues and supported well known bands such as the Whitlams.
This song has a heavy rock/pop feel with a catchy commercial edge. The song "No Matter Where You Are" has been recorded in collaboration with well-known producer Stuart Stuart of ‘Chartsong productions’ in Brisbane recently, so fresh its not yet even released.
